John W. Davis, Ph.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

John Davis came to Mobile in 1972 to work as an assistant professor at University of South Alabama while he started his private practice, which opened in June of 1972.  In 1975, his private practice replaced his university affiliation in priority, and he has now practiced psychology for over 40 years!

John completed his Ph.D. at University of Georgia and his internship in Clinical Psychology at the VA Hospital in Miami, Florida.  He was an active faculty member in the Department of Psychology at University of South Alabama from 1972 until 1981; he remains on the faculty as an adjunct professor.

John enjoys many activities outside of the office, including golf, boating, gardening, and tennis.   He also can't leave his work at the office and is active in the community as a consultant for several local hospitals and community mental health centers and has also served as a consultant for several local youth programs, regional businesses, and social agencies.

Additionally, John has been active in professional organizations on a local, state, and national level, serving as president of the Alabama Psychological Association on two separate occasions.

John has practiced psychology for over 40 years with a philosophy focused on interpersonal relationships.  He believes that relationships are the most important thing in life--relationships with our maker, spouse, children, family, friends; and that good relationships are based on trust. Good relationships make you feel happy, productive, creative; and bad relationships make you feel sad, depressed, suspicious, less productive, less creative.
